The Love Story...
Jamie and Kylie
met as Jamie was cycling through Australia, which was country
number 15 of a planned 70-country around the world mountain
bike expedition of Peace
Pedalers. His riding partner and best friend Garryck Hampton
recently had a serious mountain bike injury in Malaysia that
took him out of that section of the ride to heal and eventually
off the expedition all together. So it was just Jamie, his
tandem bike, and the open road with an unknown future.
On a full moon, in the small Australian bush town of Billinudgel
outside Byron Bay, Jamie and Kylie’s eyes met at an
Indian style Satsang. It was love at first sight. They began
long distance dating and their love remained strong at distances
of over 7,000 miles. While Jamie was in Malaysia missing his
sweetheart in Australia, the inspiration came for the One
World Odyssey. The goal was to find a way for Jamie to complete
his ride of the world as planned with Peace Pedalers, but
now to bring along the woman of his dreams and many more to
share the magic of Peace Pedaling.
After over 8 months of long distance dating and co-creating
the One World Odyssey, Kylie flew to live with Jamie in Santa
Cruz, California. They found a pad near the beach, an office
to build The Odyssey project, and began to make plans for
a new life together. On February 10, 2005, Jamie's 33rd birthday,
Jamie proposed to Kylie on the Sunset Cliffs in San Diego,
California. Kylie and Jamie are engaged to be married after
the expedition in Byron Bay, Australia.
