With our population growing at a record pace, we need to be
conscious about how we are feeding this mass of mammals. The
quest for efficiency and profits have fueled new technologies
and chemicals that are yielding massive crops. But what is
the cost?
Polluted soil, rivers, oceans, lakes. Food that is toxic,
lacks nutrition, and has been modified with undetermined effects
on the body. Soil that has lost all it's natural nutrients
and needs huge amounts of chemicals to produce crops. It does
not have to be this way.
The environmental message of the One World Odyssey is this:
we have just One World! There is no place else to go if we
destroy our planet. So let's build awareness of smart practices
like sustainable & organic farming, permaculture and other
proactive ways to feed our growing population.
Insist on buying as much produce as possible from conscious,
organic farmers. Spread the word. The more demand we have,
the more farmers will convert their land to meet that demand.
