Below is the planned itinerary for our first adventure in Argentina. Anyone can do this first ride! We made the ride distances manageable for first time riders so join us!

 


Friday, Dec. 2nd, 2005

Pre-Departure Afternoon & Evening Events in Mar Del Plata
Afternoon- One World Odyssey/ Kikiwai Surf Club sponsored surf event with a local charity (currently in discussions)
Evening- Fundraising event at the Elvis Café. (Small music venue.) Event will include: Welcome and recognition of sponsoring organizations and guests, a substantial check donation to our non-profit partners, dinner and drinks, live music, tango dancing, and a video and slide presentations. Enjoy the evening!


Saturday, Dec. 3rd, 2005 (Day 1 of Ride)

Mar Del Plata to Mar Chiquita (34km)
(Thru Santa Clara del Mar and Mar de Cobo)
Morning- Kick-off event in Mar Del Plata. Meet the local non-profit partners at the Parque San Martin at 8am. Set up event. Celebrate, give free stuff, talk with media and locals, etc. Enjoy a picnic lunch, music to be determined.
Mid-Day- Rally bikers and invite community to join a short, social ride in the ride to the Parque Irigaray (3-4 km ride). Say goodbye and continue on with teams (+ any others who want to ride with us) to Mar Chiquita.
Afternoon/Evening- Tandem surf ride in Mar Chiquita with disabled children. Have dinner together at the campsite and show video from Mobile Base Camp to locals of Mar Chiquita.


Sunday, Dec 4th, 2005 (Day 2)

Mar Chiquita to Villa Gesell (77km)
(Thru Mar Azul and Mar de las Pampas)
Morning- Argentinean breakfast and cooking demonstration. Ride to Villa Gesell.
Afternoon/Evening- Swim/Surf
Other Possible Activities Include:
The Feria Artesanal, Regional y Artistica (Excellent arts and crafts fair)
Live music at the Cine Teatro Atlas
Disco at the Cheyenne (Dance club)


Monday, Dec. 5th, 2005 (Day 3)

Villa Gesell to Pinamar (20km)
(Thru Carilo, Valeria del Mar and Ostende)
Morning- Ride to Pinamar. Relax and enjoy lunch.
Afternoon- Give “Seeds of Change” presentation at Pinamar Elementary and Secondary schools. Give rides to the children and locals, have giveaways, etc. Share lunch with students, teachers, and their families.
Other Possible Activities Include:
Surfing at Marchiquita, Pinamar, Santa Teresita or Las Toninas with local children and adults. Sand boarding with Wenner Explorer- (US$15-25)
Evening- Invite Pinamar locals to enjoy an evening celebration and an 'international dinner' at the Mobile Base Camp.


Tuesday, Dec. 6th, 2005 (Day 4)

Pinamar to Mar de Ajo (40km)
(Thru Montecarlo, Punta Sur del Cabo San Antonio, Punta Medanos and Nueva Atlantis)
Morning- Ride to Mar de Ajo
Afternoon- Tandem surfing with locals and One World Odyssey teams. Pre-planned soccer game near campsite.
Evening- International dinner at campsite with the local community.


Wednesday, Dec. 7th, 2005 (Day 5)

Rest day in Mar de Ajo
Morning/Afternoon- Give a “Seeds of Change” presentation at a local Secondary and High Schools in Mar de Ajo. Presentation will include: An interactive skit by the Odyssey team, a video and slide show, informational handouts, books and posters, and giveaways from the One World Odyssey and our sponsors. Students will have the opportunity to explore the Mobile Base Camp and ride a tandem bicycle. Following the presentation we will enjoy a traditional lunch with students, teachers and their families.
Evening- Invite the community to join the Odyssey team for an 'international dinner' at the campsite.


Thursday, Dec. 8th, 2005 (Day 6)

Mar de Ajo to San Clemente del Tuyu (36km)
(Thru San Bernardo, La Lucila del Mar, Aguas Verdes, Costa del Este, Mar del Tuyu, Santa Teresita and Las Toninas)
Morning/Afternoon- Check out smaller towns along the route. Pass out flyers and goodies during stops.
Evening- Give a “Seeds of Change” presentation at the San Clemente del Tuyu Community Center. Show an edited video presentation of days 1-5, have giveaways, and enjoy a traditional Argentinean dinner with the community.


Friday, Dec. 9th, 2005 thru Wednesday, Dec. 14th, 2005
(Days 7-12)

San Clemente del Tuyu to Punta Indio (320km)
(Thru Punta Norte del Cabo San Antonio, Playa Rasa, Va. Roch, Esquina de Crotto, Cerro de la Gloria, Playa Piedras and Playa Salvador Grande)
Possible Activities Along This Route Include-
Taking blind riders out on the back seats of tandem bikes and/or on tandem surfboards.
Playing ultimate frisbee or soccer with locals.
Visiting local orphanages and disabled homes.
“Seeds of Change” program at schools and community centers.
Evening celebrations at local restaurants, community centers, or at the One World Odyssey base camp.


Thursday, Dec. 15th, 2005 (Day 13)

Punta Indio to La Plata (51km)
(Thru Magdalena, Playa Atalaya, Playa Blanca, La Balandra, and Berisso)
Morning- Breakfast with the locals of Punta Indio. Relax in Punto Indio. Swim/Surf/Kayak. Invite locals to experience tandem surfing with the One World Odyssey teams.
Afternoon- Bike from Punto Indio to La Plata
Evening- Fundraising event with local non-profit partners at La Rubia (Popular bar/restaurant). Event will include: Welcome and recognition of sponsoring organizations and guests, a substantial check donation to our non-profit organizing partners, as well as dinner and drinks, live music, tango dancing, and a video and slide presentation.


Friday, Dec. 16th, 2005 (Day 14)

La Plata to Buenos Aires (63km)
(Thru Ensenada, F. Varela and Berazategui, Ouilmes and Avellaneda)
Morning- Breakfast at the Cerveceria Modelo ( a traditional restaurant) with locals, show Odyssey video clips from the previous weeks.
Mid-Day- Rally community to join us on the ride to Buenos Aires. Celebrate arrival in Buenos Aires with non-profit partners and the local community at the Plaza Dorrego.
Evening- Event with live music, tango, dinner and a short video about our Argentinean adventure. Enjoy an evening out in Buenos Aires!


Saturday, Dec. 17th, 2005 (Day 15)

Rest/Play in Buenos Aires
Morning/Afternoon
- Explore the city!
Possible Activities Include: Professional Futbol Game, A Tango Class, Walking Tour of the City, Performance at the Teatro Colon (Argentina’s Grandest Theater)
Evening- Fundraising event at the Mundo Bizarro. Event will include: Welcome and recognition of sponsoring organizations and guests, a short video about our Argentinean adventure, and a substantial check donation to our Argentinean non-profit partner organizations, as well as a photography exhibition by the children of the Villa 15 (slums 15), a tango demonstration, live music, dinner & dancing, etc.
